Refined Oil Products

STAR has invested in a refining capacity of 20,000 barrels per day in China, enabling us to comprehensively address the medium-term challenges faced by the refinery, from procuring optimal feedstocks to managing energy transition. The majority of its output comprises gasoline and diesel for road vehicles, with the remaining portion consisting of specialty products such as fuel oil, asphalt, kerosene, and aviation fuel.

 

In recent years, the refinery has made significant investments to meet the demands of both present and future markets. Its production units and upgraded processes are capable of flexibly providing a balanced portfolio of retail, commercial, and specialty products to the market.

 

Safety is the cornerstone of STAR refinery's excellent operation. All operational departments continuously review and upgrade health, safety, and environmental practices. The refinery operates under COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) regulations and collaborates closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Environment Agency (EA) in the UK.

 

 

 

The company owns two oil depots:

1. One located in Yangsanmu Warehouse, Huanghua City, capable of storing 3,000 tons of diesel.

2. Another located in the Second District of Nandagang Management Area, Huanghua City, Hebei Province, capable of storing 6,000 tons of fuel oil, with a monthly production capacity of over 50,000 tons.

 

Both depots are equipped with dedicated oil unloading pipelines, self-owned oil tanker trucks, and large and medium-sized transport vehicles, ensuring safe handling, storage, and production coordination of oil products, as well as timely and convenient fuel replenishment. By 2019, the annual throughput of fuel is expected to reach 300,000 tons. Additionally, the depot area is equipped with advanced and comprehensive oil product laboratories staffed by senior inspection personnel dedicated to meticulous and practical analysis of oil product quality, ensuring strict control over product quality.


The company's main petroleum supply regions include Tianjin Port, Qinhuangdao Port, Jingtang Port, Caofeidian Port, and Huanghua Port, all of which include berths and anchorages.

 

Star Company's oil tanker, Star01, falls under the category of chemical tankers. The vessel has a total length of 180 meters, a beam of 32 meters, and a carrying capacity of 40,000 metric tons. It plays a crucial role in the company's transportation and trading activities, including the transportation of finished oil and chemicals.

Tianjin Huahaisheng Marine Fuel Company, with a registered capital of $4.6 million and liquid assets exceeding $18 million, has been engaged in marine fuel business with shipping companies since 2004, mainly dealing in marine fuel oil grades 120CST, 180CST, 4#, paraffin oil, diesel grades 0#, -10#, -20#, and marine lubricants.

Vehicle Gasoline

Fuel-saving, dynamic, and clean; with nine internal control indicators (e.g., octane number and olefin content) exceeding national standards, and 13 indicators (e.g., formaldehyde and aniline compounds) filling the gap in national standards; and having won a number of honors and awards, such Shandong High-quality Brand, China's Most Popular High-end Gasoline Private Brand, and Outstanding Quality Improvement Award.

Vehicle Diesel

Environmental-friendly and fuel-saving; with 11 internal control indicators (e.g., cetane number and flash point) exceeding national standards and nine indicators (e.g., chlorine content and silicon content) filling the gap in the national standards.

Jet Fuel

Produced by using Shell single-stage tandem full cycle process, the products have been granted the “List of Approved Projects as Stipulated in Technical Standards” and the “Approval of Projects as Stipulated in Technical Standards” by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The production capacity is 2.6 million tons per year.

Petroleum Coke

Mainly used in calcined coke, smelting, and chemical industries, with the output up to 110,000 tons per year.

LNG

Widely used as industrial and civil fuel and also used as the chemical raw material for chemical products, with the output up to 436,100 tons per year.

Sulfuric Acid

Mainly used for producing inorganic chemical fertilizers and widely used as a basic chemical raw material, with the output up to 300,000 tons per year

Aromatic Hydrocarbons

To give full play to the advantages of refining & petrochemical integration and extend the industrial chain of “refining-aromatics-polyester”, Fuhai Group has built the 2 MTPA PX and 2.5 MTPA PTA projects to produce quality chemicals with strong stability and provide high-quality raw materials for downstream production units. Among them, the PX project as an aromatic hydrocarbon project listed in the national “Petrochemical Industry Planning and Layout”, enjoys three advantages: advanced technology, leading environmental protection index and high security. With patented technologies introduced from UOP, BP and Sinopec RIPP, it leads the industry in terms of indicators such as safety, environmental protection and energy conservation.

Fuhai Group plans to build a 1.5 MTPA PET packaging material project in Hekou Blue Economic Industrial Park. Using the world-leading PET two-reactor polycondensation and direct melting technology, the project mainly produces cold-resistant sheets and functional PET bottle chips with good toughness and high strength, and was selected as a major project in Shandong Province in 2022. Upon its completion, it will further promote the development of downstream clusters of packaging industry in the region, and form an industrial chain with diverse and high-level products that may see the integrated growth of either upstream or downstream enterprises.

Paraxylene

Produced by using UOP’s latest LD-Parex process and ADS-50 sorbent and the simulated moving bed technology, the products are of high purity (over 99.8%) and high stability and therefore are good raw materials for downstream PTA production plants.

Produced by using UOP’s cyclobutyl sulfone extraction technology and sensitive plate high-efficiency separation technology, the products are of high purity (over 99.9%) and high stability and are the main raw materials for the downstream MDI, polyamide, and bisphenol A plants.

Produced by using the heat-integrated precise fractionation technology of Tianda Tianjiu, the products are of high stability and high purity (over 99.95%).

Terephthalic Acid

Relying on BP’s advanced PTA technology and medium-temperature oxidation-based hydrorefining technology, the production process is rather advanced, with low energy consumption, small loss, reliable operability, and very high product purity that’s up to 99.98%.

Polyester bottle flakes

We produce high-end functional bottle flakes such as color bottle flakes and matt bottle flakes by using the short-process continuous polymerization and viscosification technology, which reduces the production cost and energy consumption by over 30% respectively as compared with traditional processes.

Polyester sheets

We produce high-end functional ABA three-layer composite sheets such as GAG, C-PET, A-PET, foamed sheet, cold-resistant sheet, anti-fog drop sheet, and colored sheet. by technological innovation and the use of globally advanced short-process manufacturing technology, which offers a permanent anti-stick effect and reduces the production cost and energy consumption by over 80% and over 90% respectively as compared with other domestic manufacturers.

Olefins

To further extend the Group's industry chain, Fuhai Group plans to build a 1 million t/a project to produce differentiated olefin products with diversified raw materials in Caofeidian Petrochemical Industrial Base Annual diversified raw material to olefin project, including an ethylene plant and downstream product plants using naphtha, propane, and butane as raw materials. The project will cover a large part of the industry chain and deliver a wide range of products, with sales coverage reaching key consumer markets such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, North China, and East China. Meanwhile, the project possesses a number of advantages, such as high technology, high added value of products, low energy consumption, low greenhouse gas emissions, and differentiated development of downstream products. Once put in operation, the project will be a driving force for Caofeidian Petrochemical Industrial Base to upgrade and optimize the olefins industry chain, improve the ethylene production in Hebei province, and promote the overall development of the petrochemical industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Polyethylene

Relying on the internationally advanced slurry process, the products are of high tensile strength and strong puncture and tear resistance and can be used for film, packaging material, container, pipe, monofilament, wire, cable, etc.

ABS

Produced by using emulsion grafting-bulk SAN blending process, the products are of a wide variety and high quality and can be applied in many sectors such as extrusion, anti-flaming, heat resistance, electroplating, and injection molding.

Polyether Polyol

Produced by using the domestically advanced polymetallic cyanide catalytic synthesis process, the low unsaturation polyether products we produce are of better quality than those produced from the traditional alkali catalytic process and can be used for high load polyurethane elastomers.

Acrylonitrile

Produced by using the propylene ammonia oxidation process that is mature and advanced both at home and abroad, the products are of high propylene conversion and high quality, and therefore they are an important raw material for synthetic fiber, synthetic rubber and can also be used for acrylic fiber, carbon fiber, ABS, acrylamide, etc.

Styrene

Produced by using the internationally advanced PO/SM co-production technology, the plant has lower energy consumption and is safer and more eco-friendly, and the products have stable quality and can be further processed to produce PS, EPS, ABS, etc.

Dimethyl Carbonate

Scope of application:

· paint, coating, adhesive and other industries

Product features:

· dimethyl carbonate is a good methylation agent, carbonylation agent, hydroxymethylation agent and methoxylation agent, which has very active chemical properties. In 1992, it was listed as a non-toxic product in Europe, and in 2009, the United States EPA listed dimethyl carbonate as a non VOC product. As an environmental friendly chemical product, it can replace some toxic solvents.

MTBE(methyl tert-butyl ether)

It is a gasoline additive with a high octane number (research octane number 117), with a much lower chemical oxygen content than methanol, which is beneficial for warming up and fuel saving. It has low latent heat of evaporation and is beneficial for cold starting. It is commonly used in the blending of lead-free gasoline and low lead oil. It can also be re cracked into isobutene as a raw material for rubber and other chemical products.
